A practical moving-day guide
Keep the move moving.
Contact xuxiayu2010@gmail.com. Include the app version, iOS version, device model, what you tried and what happened. Avoid private item lists, photos or backups unless you deliberately choose to share them.
Create a move and rooms
Choose Create a move. Name it, optionally add dates in YYYY-MM-DD format and add origin and destination rooms. Open the move and choose Add box. Short IDs use 1–16 letters, digits or hyphens and are unique within that move. Renaming a box or room keeps its printed QR identity.
Find first-night essentials
Flag a box as First-night essentials. Search an item in Find & scan, filter a move to essentials or use the Checkpoints essentials view. The fictional October apartment sample puts the phone charger in B01, destined for Bedroom.
Scan a private label
Choose Start camera and allow camera access when asked. A scan shows local box contents; it never marks arrival. If the camera is unavailable, search the printed short ID or choose an image containing one label. Unknown labels require the matching inventory backup; they cannot be looked up online.
Record and correct checkpoints
Open a box and record a later stage. You may skip stages, but skipped events are not invented. For a bulk change, select boxes in Checkpoints, review every move and ID, then confirm. Correct an incorrect checkpoint from its history with a reason; the original remains readable. To change a timestamp, correct the event then record the stage again. Effective stages and times must move forward.
The arrival board includes boxes recorded loaded without an effective arrived or unpacked checkpoint. It means an arrival is unrecorded, not that a box is physically lost.
Print labels and export a manifest
Open Labels & manifest inside a move. Select boxes and US Letter or A4 paper. Preview the exact room and essential fields selected for printing. Use plain paper at 100% scale and cut on the outlines. Commercial adhesive-stock fit is not guaranteed. Preview every manifest page before sharing private contents or photos.
Back up and restore
Open Backup & recovery and export a full backup package before moving day and after important changes. Keep the .moveboxbackup package intact, including manifest.json and its photos folder. It preserves all original photo bytes, records, settings and label identities.
Choose a backup to validate it before importing. Merge adds new moves and skips identical ones; it rejects conflicting contents. Skip leaves existing moves unchanged. Import as new copies assigns new IDs to all related records and requires new printed labels. To restore a newer version of a conflicting move, first back up the current data, remove only that move, then import the intended backup.
If the current local save cannot be read, use Recover previous intact save. Failed imports and saves leave the prior readable inventory intact. The supported capacity is 200 moves, 10,000 boxes, 50,000 items, 48 MiB of original photos total and 12 MiB per photo; very large photos may need a smaller chosen copy.
Deletion and the sample
Individual box, move and photo removals offer cancellation and a 30-second undo in Settings, which expires on the next change. Sample removal preserves personal additions and their containers. Delete-all requires typing DELETE and a final confirmation; it also clears the local recovery copy. External backups remain.
Price and reinstalling
The planned release is a $4.99 US paid download, with all features included and no subscription or in-app purchase. Regional prices are set by the App Store. Apple manages download eligibility and refunds. Reinstalling the app does not itself restore your inventory; use your full backup.
Offline and device limits
Core inventory, search, QR decoding, PDF generation and local backup work without a developer server. Opening support links, sending email, downloading the app and some chosen cloud file destinations need connectivity. Camera and print behavior depend on the physical device and printer. This release’s QA scope uses simulators; physical scanning and printing were not tested.
